Basic Usage

Receiptimer is designed to provide a premium and satisfying Pomodoro experience with simple, intuitive controls.


1. Setting Up Your Categories

Before starting the timer, select or create the category (task description) you are about to work on.

Adding a Category

  1. Tap "Category Settings" or "+ Add New" at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter a Main Category (e.g., Study, Work).
  3. Optionally, add a specific Subcategory (e.g., English, Invoicing).
  4. Tap "Save" to add the category.

    Main Category is required

    If you try to save a subcategory without choosing a main category, a warning alert will appear. Always specify the main category.

Editing and Deleting

  • Edit: Simply tap on any existing category name in the settings list to change it instantly.
  • Delete: Tap the "X" button next to any category to remove it.

    Safety Check to Prevent Accidental Deletions

    To prevent accidentally losing custom categories and having to retype them, a confirmation popup ("Are you sure you want to delete?") will always appear before any deletion is finalized.


2. Starting the Timer

  1. Tap a category card to select it.
  2. Tap the large "Start" button in the center to begin the 25-minute countdown.
  3. Relaxing ambient sounds and background execution are fully supported.

3. Aborting a Session

If you really can't keep focusing or an emergency comes up, you can abort the session mid-way.

  • Tap the "Abort" button while the timer is running to see a confirmation dialog
  • Aborted sessions are recorded with a penalty (counted as half the normal time)
  • The aborted session still appears on your receipt, so the fact that you stopped early is honestly recorded

Abort Penalty

Aborted sessions do not earn point card stamps. However, they remain on your receipt record.


4. Silent Mode Detection

If your device is set to "Silent" or "Vibrate Only", system restrictions on Android may block the timer's end alarm sound.

Receiptimer intelligently detects this state and displays a warning banner at the top: "⚠️ Device is on Silent Mode. Timer end alerts may not sound." This helpful reminder keeps you from losing track of time.


5. Generating & Sharing Your Receipt

  1. When a Pomodoro ends, a new item is automatically printed on today's receipt.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap "Share Receipt" or "Tear & Share".
  3. A premium, high-resolution PNG image of the receipt will be generated. You can save it to your local gallery or share it instantly on social media (X/Twitter, Instagram, etc.).

Share Message Templates (PRO)

With the PRO plan, you can customize the message that accompanies your receipt when sharing to social media. Save multiple templates and switch between them as needed.


6. Checking Your Point Card

Tap the point card display on the home screen to open the Point Card Detail popup.

  • Current stamp count and progress toward the next reward
  • History of completed cards
  • List of unlocked titles
  • Upcoming reward roadmap

Visualizing your sustained focus helps maintain motivation over time.
